The 5-color printing effect of UV printers can already meet daily printing needs. The 5 colors are (C – Cyan, M – Magenta, Y – Yellow, K – Black, W – White), and other colors can be blend through color software. Considering high-quality printing or customized requirements, the colors of UV printers can be added with LC (Light Cyan), LM (Light Magenta), LK (Light Black), LLK (Extra Light Black) and spot colors (Orange, Purple, Green).
Under normal circumstances, when referring to the standard configuration of UV printers, it is 5-color, but the number of corresponding nozzles varies. Some require one nozzle, some need 3 nozzles, and some need 5 nozzles. The reason lies in the different types of nozzles. For example:
- Epson nozzles have 8 channels, and one channel can output one color, so one nozzle can output five colors, or six colors plus two whites or eight colors.
- For Ricoh 5 nozzles, one nozzle outputs two colors, so 3 nozzles are needed for 5 colors.
- For Seiko GS508 nozzles, one nozzle outputs one color, so 5 nozzles are needed for 5 colors.
It should be noted that the more colors a single nozzle outputs, the slower the printing speed, and such nozzles are civilian nozzles; most of the nozzles that output one color per nozzle are industrial nozzles, which have a faster printing speed.
The 5-color printing effect of UV printers can meet the following requirements:
- Ordinary color printing: printing color patterns on transparent materials, black materials, and dark-colored materials;
- 3D effect: printing visually 3D effect patterns on the surface of materials;
- Emboss effect: the patterns on the surface of the material are uneven, and there is a sense of hierarchy when touched by hand.

- Hardware: Add new components such as nozzles, ink cartridges, ink circuits, and booster boards;
- Software: Upgrade the original control software and color software.
